The ANC 2012 Centenary Celebration presents an opportunity to reflect on the trajectory our glorious movement has traversed and evolved through become a truly mass based National Liberation Movement. It vividly afresh memoirs that characterised our struggle, which in essence are memories of struggle marked by selflessness, dedication and great sacrifice. At the centre of this struggle was and remain the centrality of the people, hence we still say: “the people remain their own liberators”. Even in the midst of such bitter difficulties and confrontations, our struggle developed moral values of human compassion and solidarity. Our struggle represents something good, not just something better than apartheid. It asserted the humanness of human spirit. Key values embedded in this are: self-respect, caring, humility, honest, dedication and commitment. The ANC 2012 Centenary Celebration is the period of renewal of the values as well as principles of organisational democracy and discipline, which have kept our organisation united for the past decades. These values and principles should always find expression in our daily struggles of building a strong movement and in our modest efforts of building better communities.

In this day in age of the electronic information highway, let us all be part of the new generation and accustom ourselves with using the internet in general and our website in particular. We are going to communicate a host of the ANC's programmes via the newly revamped website.

As we approach the centenary of this revolutionary movement, we call on all South Africans to be steadfast in their beliefs in the ANC and forthright in their commitment to the movement. The ANC is the only organisation that has the interests of the people at heart. It is therefore no co-incidence that this website is being launched on a Women's Month, a demonstration of the ANC's commitment to the emancipation of women.

Why we chose Zuma
We often read with surprise and disappointment the articles expressing doubt about the ANC's suitability to lead the country because it elected Zuma as a leader; a matter that has received extensive discussions in party structures and widely debated.
As expected during this season when the ANC as ruling party will be approaching its 53rd conference, the general atmosphere will be polluted by cynism, speculation conjecture and all manner of fabrications that are strong on sensation and thin on facts.
The objective of the National Democratic Revolution is the creation of a united non-racial, non-sexist, democratic, free and prosperous nation; founded on the basis of equality and human rights.
The multiplicity of social, political and economic challenges faced by the country require that conference decisions show a sense of priority and urgency on their solution. The major challenges facing the country i.e poverty, inequality and unemployment require both an urgent and permanent solution. Their importance overshadows any leadership deal or contest.
The acknowledgement of the existence of the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality explains why all efforts must be focused on how the economy of the country will be turned around for the better. In previous records of government performance, all reports of progress in service delivery were punctuated by the remark that inequality is rising in the country.
The ANC has worked too hard to improve the lives of South Africa already, and has far too much still undone. The ANC remains most capable to do more for a much longer period. But certain things must be confronted fearlessly and consistently.
"Education can be and has been used to befuddle the minds of the common people. But education can also be used as an important instrument in the struggle for freedom and human progress. It is this kind of education which we need."
